China – Average salaries climb 3.8% for jobseekers in 2022 (China Daily)

China’s job market saw a marginal increase in salaries for jobseekers in 2022 with financial and information technology industries in first-tier cities offering job-seekers higher pay, reports China Daily, citing research from Zhaopin. The research found that the average recruiting salary in the fourth quarter of 2022 was CNY 10,558 (USD 1,533) per month in 38 surveyed cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, up 3.8% from the previous quarter. When compared to the same period in 2021, the average fourth-quarter recruiting salary in 2021 was slightly lower at CNY 10,111 (USD 1,468).

Beijing took the top spot in the fourth quarter with the average recruiting salary reaching CNY 13,930 (USD 2,022) per month, which was followed by Shanghai and Shenzhen, whose monthly recruiting salaries were CNY 13,832 (USD 2,008) and CNY 13,086 (USD 1,900) on average. Out of these cities offering well-paid jobs, industries focusing on finance including banking, securities and insurance were the most highly paid.
