The Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario area in Southern California continued in March to post the highest unemployment rate, 13.9 percent, among all large U.S. metropolitan areas with populations of 1 million or more, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

The Las Vegas area continued to post the second-highest jobless rate at 13.3 percent.

Oklahoma City registered the lowest unemployment rate among all large metropolitan areas in March, at 5.2 percent.

Among U.S. metropolitan areas of all sizes, El Centro, Calif., posted the highest jobless rate in March at 24.6 percent. Three other areas posted rates higher than 20 percent. Among the 14 areas with jobless rates of at least 15.0 percent, 12 were in California.

Lincoln, Neb., recorded the lowest unemployment rate among metropolitan areas of all sizes at 4.1 percent in March.
