Australia – Recruit combines Chandler Macleod and Peoplebank businesses

05 March 2019

Chandler Macleod Group and Peoplebank Australia will combine as a single business unit under parent company Recruit Holding Co. Ltd., the company announced Tuesday. Recruit acquired both staffing provider Chandler Macleod and IT staffing firm Peoplebank four years ago. However, the firms had operated as separate companies though both had similar operations and locations in Australia and the Asia Pacific.

Peoplebank will become a business unit of Chandler Macleod, though the Peoplebank brand will remain. Peoplebank CEO Peter Acheson will lead the combined company as CEO.

“This is a transformational opportunity to create a significant, market-leading business,” Acheson said. “We can leverage the two companies’ best practices in service offering, people, brand, learning and development, IT systems and industry best processes.”

Current CEO of Chandler Macleod, Shinya Yamamoto, will move internally back to recruit in Japan.

Chandler Macleod is the larger of the two companies in terms of contingent workers with 15,000 external employees. Peoplebank has approximately 5,000 contractors in the field.

Recruit announced the acquisitions of Chandler Macleod and Peoplebank in January 2015. Recruit ranks as one of the largest staffing firms in the world, and its history was recently highlighted in a report by Bloomberg.
