Australia-based staffing firm People Infrastructure announced that it has completed the acquisition of the GMT Group of companies, trading as GMT People.

GMT People was established in 1999 and is a Canberra-based recruitment firm specialising in contract and permanent IT recruitment solutions for the Information Technology industry, covering the full range of Information Technology disciplines.

It is a contracted preferred supplier to Australian Federal Government Departments and Agencies, and a number of universities.

The acquisition was funded out of cash reserves. Financial details were not disclosed.

The group said the acquisition is highly complementary to its existing Halcyon Knights IT business.

People Infrastructure announced on October 2021 the appointment of Ross Thompson as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Ross Thompson said, “The acquisition of GMT People gives People Infrastructure access to a key strategic market for our IT business and provides further depth to our client base in the federal government and higher education sectors”.

The acquisition will not have a material impact on earnings for FY 2021.
