Australia-based global freelance platform Freelancer Ltd (FLN: ASX) yesterday announced that it has acquired the assets of Sydstart, which bills itself as the largest technology start-up conference and community in Australia.

Financial details of the acquisition were not released.

Sydstart was founded in 2009 by Pete Cooper, who has also been appointed Regional Director of Australasia to lead media, communications, and business development in Australia and New Zealand for Freelancer.

Commenting on the acquisition and appointment, Matt Barrie, CEO and Chairman of Freelancer, said: “For the last five years, Pete has run what I think is the best technology conference in the country and we’re pleased to welcome him to the team. I’m excited to now be working together, and to also be taking Sydstart to the next level.”
