Australia – Contract Watch: Freelancer wins task orders with NASA and US government departments

17 March 2022

Australia-based Freelancer announced it has won three task orders with two US Government Departments including the US Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and NASA.

The task orders were won under the USD 175 million NASA Open Innovation Services 2 (NOIS2) joint tender that allows NASA and other government agencies to host crowdsourcing activities and reach millions of innovators worldwide.

The task order for the NIST is the largest task order won to date, worth USD 1.5 million, according to the company. It aims to advance incident command dashboard technologies that would allow for real-time tracking of assets, personnel, and objects of interest during emergency crisis scenarios. This task order will be delivered in partnership with LMI, a US government-focused consultancy with nearly 60 years of experience in delivering computational science solutions

The task orders for NASA are in two parts. The first is worth USD 9,300 and will leverage the Freelancer crowd with exceptional transcription skills to transcribe a series of interviews for the NASA Convergent Aeronautics Solutions (CAS) project. The second worth USD 37,000, will leverage the Freelancer crowd to provide graphic design expertise to the NASA CAS team. The team’s goal is to drive a more effective collaboration process for early problem identification, exploration, and high-level solution conceptualisation.

“We’re excited to continue our participation in NASA’s NOIS2 contract with the addition of three more task orders,” Freelancer Chief Executive, Matt Barrie said. “We’ve demonstrated that our community of freelancers on Freelancer.com have the unique and sophisticated skills capable of supporting innovating across departments. These three additional task orders will be another opportunity to showcase the global power of our freelance community.”
