05 July 2022

Australia-based recruitment firm Ambition Group provided a company update for the six months to June 2022.

The group said total net fee income rose 46% with permanent net fee income up 52% and contract rising by 31%. Preliminary estimates for EBITDA are at AUD 3.5 million (USD 2.3 million).

The group said internationally, technology has been a stand-out performer with significant demand for roles such as highly technical engineers and cybersecurity specialists, to digital, through to project managers. Banking has also been strong, especially in Australia and Asia.

Ambition Group added that it finished the period with 155 consultants, well over half of whom are in Asia. This compares to 130 consultants in the FY 2021 period.

The group also announced that as of 1 July 2022, Chris Aukland has been promoted into the role of group managing director, Ambition. This new position will see Aukland continue his focus on Asian operations, but also work on ensuring the maximum level of cooperation and cross-fertilisation of ideas across all offices. Aukland has been with Ambition for over seven years and has been instrumental in the growth of the company around Hong Kong, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur.

Nick Waterworth, founder and CEO, said, “I have literally never been so excited about Ambition, apart from perhaps the day we launched. There’s no doubt that Covid-19 has been good for us. It was scary back in Q2 and Q3 2020, and I fully-appreciate the misery it has caused around the world, but we have emerged more determined than ever and with an energised leadership like never before.”

In its USA office, the group said revenue is already beginning to flow adding that Ambition’s exclusive focus on professional services firms and in-depth expertise in marketing, is generating assignments from clients.

In both Melbourne and Sydney, the level of client and candidate referrals is at historic highs between the contingent staffing brand, Ambition and the retained search brand, Watermark.
