Australia – Airtasker appoints former Ignite CFO as its new CFO

06 September 2022

Australia-based B2C talent platform Airtasker announces the appointment of Mahendra Tharmarajah as its new CFO and the resignation of current CFO Nathan Chadwick.

Tharmarajah joins Airtasker from Australian staffing firm Ignite Ltd where he has been CFO for 6 years. A qualified Chartered Accountant Tharmarajah has over 20 years’ experience in managing finance functions, including six years at high growth e-commerce marketplace Viator. Tharmarajah’s experience includes strategic as well as operational finance expertise including systems implementation, M&A and international expansion.

Tharmarajah has been with Ignite since 2016 and played a key role in the restructure and rebuilding of Ignite over this time. As announced to the market on 25 August, Ignite reported its first underlying profit for over 10 years for financial year 2022.

Airtasker CEO Tim Fung said, “I am super pleased to welcome Mahendra Tharmarajah to the role of CFO at Airtasker. Mahendra brings Airtasker a wealth of experience and expertise across finance operations, strategic business planning and optimisation as well as capital allocation which I believe will unlock the next level of Airtasker’s global growth.”

Tharmarajah starts as CFO at Airtasker on 10 October 2022. Chadwick will be available for a reasonable transition period.

“I’d also like to thank Nathan Chadwick for his contribution to Airtasker for the last four years, leading us through an IPO and ensuring that we made a successful transition to becoming an ASX listed company. Following an orderly transition, we look forward to building upon the solid foundations which Nathan established and taking Airtasker to the next level of global growth,” Fung said.

Ignite said given the recent transformation and streamlining of the organisation, it will not be replacing the CFO role.

“Rather, as a testament to the depth of talent in the finance division, Ignite will promote our Financial Controller Diego Agosti into the newly created role of Finance Director,” the group stated.
