Artner H1 revenue up 10.7% as profits increase

Japanese recruitment firm Artner (2163: JP) reported revenue today for the six months ended 31 July 2023 of JPY 5.00 billion (USD 31.4 million), an increase of 10.7% compared to the same period last year.

Artner provides employment recruitment services across Japan, offering permanent, temporary, and contract staffing services. Also, Artner is involved in the provision of mechanical design, electrical and electronic design, software, and chemical and bio-based research and development services.

According to the company, the number of operating personnel increased compared to the same period last year. Additionally, the initial placement cost for new graduate engineers has increased due to the shortage of engineers.

Furthermore, the unit price for engineers increased compared to the same period last year due to unit price negotiations with client companies based on the work performance of existing engineers.

In the contracting business, the number of people assigned to projects has increased due to aggressive sales activities.

In terms of profits, in addition to investment in recruitment such as increasing the number of staff and advertising for recruitment, there was also a recovery in recruitment and sales activities.

Looking ahead the company forecasted revenue of JPY 9.79 billion for the year ended 31 January 2024.
