Global Staffing Market Revenue Growth to Accelerate to 6%

Mountain View, California — October 23, 2017 — Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA), the global advisor on staffing and workforce solutions has released its latest Global Staffing Industry Market Estimates and Forecast report. Published twice annually, the Forecast report covers estimates and forecasts for the staffing industry by revenue and segment, with additional labor market information, including regional and historical data and a ranking of the 15 largest countries in terms of staffing industry revenue.

The report estimates that the staffing industry generated USD 429 billion in revenue worldwide in 2016 (EUR 388 billion). The US, Japan and the UK make up a majority of the revenue; and the top 15 countries combined account for 88% of total global staffing revenue.

SIA predicts that global staffing revenue growth will accelerate from 5% in 2016 to 6% in 2017, with the 6% trend continuing through 2018. The Japanese, German, French and Italian markets have helped drive the acceleration this year. In particular, improving trends in some of the major continental European markets balanced out the weakness in the UK market stemming from uncertainty following recent local elections and Brexit negotiations. The UK is the only one of the 15 largest staffing markets not expected to grow next year, and double-digit revenue growth predictions are in place for six of the 15 markets detailed in the report: China (16%), Italy (15%), France (11%), South Africa (11%), India (10%) and Sweden (10%). Growth in the US, the world’s largest staffing market, is expected to remain flat (3%).

“Staffing markets are continuing to evolve worldwide,” said Barry Asin, President of SIA. “Our current forecast report reflects a favorable mix of trends for most of the EMEA region, as well as in many APAC markets. The global staffing industry is poised to meet the opportunities and the challenges it faces as it advances contingent workforce solutions across the ecosystem.”
