Volt president and CEO steps down

Volt Information Sciences Inc. (NYSE MKT: VISI) announced President and CEO Michael Dean left the company and the board, effective June 6. Linda Perneau takes over as interim CEO, in addition to her current role as president of Volt Workforce Solutions — a role the former Randstad exec took on last month.

The company on June 5 said it is evaluating potential strategic alternatives, including the potential sale of the company. Second-quarter results, originally scheduled for release yesterday, are now expected this afternoon.

Dean joined Volt’s board as chairman in May 2015 and took over the CEO role on an interim basis upon the resignation of then-President and CEO Ron Kochman the following month. He was named as president and CEO in November 2015.

In connection with Dean’s departure, Volt appointed Nick Cyprus as chairman of the board, taking over the role from Dana Messina. The company also appointed William Grubbs as vice-chairman.

In addition, Volt company formed an executive management committee comprised of Perneau; Paul Tomkins, senior VP and CFO; Nancy Avedissian, senior VP and general counsel; and Ann Hollins, senior VP and chief human resources officer. The committee will be responsible day-to-day operational and corporate management, and will report directly to the board.

Volt ranks No. 20 on Staffing Industry Analysts’ list of largest IT staffing firms in the US.
