Temp staffing revenue up median 12% year over year in October, healthcare posts strongest growth: Pulse Report

Temporary staffing revenue rose a median 12% year over year in October, according to the “US Staffing Industry Pulse Survey Report: November 2022 Selected Highlights” report released by Staffing Industry Analysts. That’s down from a median 21% increase seen in the previous Pulse survey that covered data from the month of August.

The report covers data for the month of October and includes responses from 153 staffing companies.

Travel nursing staffing growth cooled considerably but still posted the fastest growth among all segments, with revenue up a median 27% year over year. Locum tenens was in line with travel nursing, with a 27% median increase. Allied healthcare and per diem also posted modest growth, with October revenue up by a median 21% and 13%, respectively.

Outside of healthcare, the strongest growth was in life sciences, up by a median 11%. This was followed by IT, up 10%, and marketing/creative, up 8%.

No segments reported negative median year-over-year changes in revenue.

The report includes selected highlights from the Pulse survey and is available to corporate members of SIA; the full 31-page Pulse report is available only to companies that took part in the survey. It contains insights on trends in revenue, bill rates, orders, gross margins and recruiting/sales difficulty as well as a six-month outlook for each staffing skill segment.
