Average weekly pay for registered nurse jobs related to Covid-19 jumped to more than $3,000 in March, travel nursing website NurseFly reported. Average weekly pay for registered nurse jobs nationwide was $1,700 in January.
NurseFly noted that some positions are seeing even larger increases. In Washington state, there was a 90% increase in pay for registered nurse jobs in the same timeframe, while pay in California rose 60%.
Nurse roles in highest demand include staffing in intensive care units, emergency departments and for nurses who specialize in infection control.
Demand for emergency department specialists increased more than 100% in March with pay of $4,000 per week or more, according to the travel nurse website.
NurseFly is based in San Francisco; the company was acquired by IAC, the present owner of Match.com and other web businesses, last August.
