01 July 2019

The largest global direct hire firms were ranked by revenue in a new report by Staffing Industry Analysts titled “Largest Direct Hire Firms Globally.”

SIA reported the global direct hire market was worth $28.1 billion in 2018 of which the US accounted for 42%. The Asia Pacific region accounted for 30%; and the Europe, Middle East and Africa region represented 25%.

The five largest direct-hire providers, by revenue globally, in the report were:

  1. PageGroup, global direct-hire revenue of $759 million in 2018
  2. Adecco, global direct-hire revenue of $670 million in 2018
  3. Hays, global direct-hire revenue of $605 million in 2018
  4. Robert Half International, global direct-hire revenue of $587 million in 2018
  5. Randstad, global direct-hire revenue of $587 million in 2018

Direct hire is defined in Staffing Industry Analysts’ online lexicon as “a term commonly used to refer to services provided by a staffing agency related to helping an organization obtain an employee to work on their payroll as opposed to temporary staffing relationship where the employee is typically working on the staffing firm’s payroll. In a direct hire arrangement, the provider is only paid a fee if a placement is made, as opposed to a retained search arrangement.” The service is more commonly called ‘permanent placement’ in the UK.

The top 20 are listed in the report, which is available online to corporate members of Staffing Industry Analysts.
