Robert Half International Inc. (NYSE symbol: RHI), the US-headquartered international staffing firm yesterday reported revenue for the fourth quarter and year ended 31 December 2016.
For the quarter ended 31 December 2016, Robert Half reported revenue of $1.27 billion, a decrease of 3.0% compared to $1.3 billion last year. The revenue decline was 1% on a same-day, constant-currency basis. For the year ended 31 December 2016, revenue was $5.25 billion, an increase of 3.1% compared to $5.09 billion last year.

For the full year ended 31 December 2016, net income was $343 million a decrease of 4.1% compared to the previous year’s net income of $358 million.
Harold M. Messmer, Jr., chairman and CEO of Robert Half, commented: “Robert Half continued to benefit from a tightening job market and solid service demand domestically and in our non-U.S. markets during the fourth quarter. International staffing operations performed particularly well, and Protiviti also reported year-over-year revenue gains.” Messmer added, “Unlevered return on equity remained strong during the fourth quarter at 29%.” However, on its earnings call with financial analysts yesterday, Messmer cautioned that the US job market continues to tighten.
Robert Half operates 325 staffing locations worldwide, including 83 locations in 17 countries outside the US. Non-US staffing revenues were $219 million for the quarter, up 5% when adjusted for billing days and currency-exchange rates. Robert Half is adding to headcount in Germany and Belgium to support growth.
