World – In Tech: Google UK, Randstad France

14 February 2019

Google this week announced that it is expanding its hire recruitment management platform to the UK, as well as Canada. According to TechCrunch, the two countries represent the first international markets for the product outside the US. Google Hire first launched in the US in 2017 with the basic ability to use apps like Gmail, Calendar, Spreadsheets and Google Voice to help people manage and track candidates through the recruiting process and doing so by integrating with third-party job boards.

Google stated that the international launches in Canada and the UK made sense as a first step because of the lack of language barrier between them and the US. The UK was key for another reason as it gave Google the chance to tweak the product to comply with GDPR for future launches.

Randstad France announced yesterday that it will be deploying its chatbot Randy nationwide in France. Randstad describes Randy as a virtual application assistant that was created to facilitate job searches. L’Usine Digitale reports that Randy will deploy in 650 offices in France. François Beharel, president of the Randstad Group in France said Randy is the “latest in our digital transformation.” Randy pre-qualifies the candidates via a gamification system. Randy’s interview process includes screening questions that revolve around location, as well as experience and the type of contract sought.
