UK – Weekly job adverts index down year over year in week ended 26 May

UK online job advertisements were down in the week ended 26 May when indexed to the same week a year ago, according to data released by the Office for National Statistics. The data comes from job board operator Adzuna.

Online job adverts were at an index level of 84.5 in the week ended 26 May when indexed to the same week a year ago for nondeduplicated job adverts. The index level was 100 for the prior-year week.

However, some industries saw advert index levels rise. Education job adverts were at an index level of 130.5 when indexed to the same week a year ago and oil and gas job adverts were at an index level of 102.3.

In the HR and recruitment industry, job adverts were at an index level of 49.3.

By region, job advert index levels were lower year over year in the week ended May 26 except in Scotland, where the index was 103.1. In London, the index stood at 75.9 while for all of England the index was 79.1. For Wales, the index was 93.9, and for Northern Ireland, the index was 84.9.
