UK – Uber rival Taxify launches in London (Evening Standard)

05 September 2017

Estonia-based Uber rival Taxify, which earlier this year secured financial backing from Chinese ride-sharing firm Didi Chuxing, has launched in London today, reports the Evening Standard. Taxify vowed to offer rides up to 10% cheaper than Uber. Taxify also takes 15% commission from drivers, compared with Uber’s 20% to 30%. The company added that it has been recruiting drivers. Drivers for Taxify will technically be self-employed which means they could drive for both Taxify and Uber. Taxify operates in 19 countries across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Didi Chuxing invested an undisclosed amount in Taxify last month and has been trying to edge Uber out of international markets.
