UK – Uber and TfL fail to reach agreement over licence row, further talks planned (The Guardian)

04 October 2017

Uber and Transport for London are expected to hold further talks after they failed to reach an agreement during a meeting yesterday in which Uber attempted to regain its licence, reports The Guardian. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi flew to London yesterday to meet with Mike Brown, the Tfl Commissioner, after Uber was denied a new licence to operate in London on the basis that it is not a “fit and proper” private car hire operator. The two discussed measure that could be taken to resolve the dispute. Both TfL and Uber hailed the meeting as constructive with TfL stating that “Further steps in this process will take place over the coming weeks.” Uber has vowed to appeal TfL’s decision and has until 13 October to lodge a legal appeal.
