UK – Specialist People Services revenue up 10%

08 May 2018

Diversified recruitment group Specialist People Services reported on 1 May that revenue rose to £150 million in its financial year 2018 ended in March, a 10% increase from £134 million in the prior financial year. The Bradford-based company, which owns transportation and logistics recruitment firm Driver Hire, said increased demand for temporary labour in logistics and rail drove the revenue growth.

The group recorded growth across all of its business units. Driver Hire Nationwide, a supplier of drivers and logistics staff in the UK, saw an 8% increase year over year, bolstered by increased demand for temporary drivers and new contract wins. Its international arm, Driver Hire Australia, recorded sales of £12 million, a £5 million increase from last year.

Specialist People Services stated it also continued to benefit from the integration of rail services business ISS Labour, where turnover increased 20% year over year to £28 million, driven by continued investment in rail infrastructure across the country as part of Network Rail’s £38 billion upgrade plan.

“Looking ahead, we are confident that this growth will continue,” Chief Executive Chris Chidley said. “Our business is well-positioned with a strong client base who trust us to deliver, a talented management team, supportive shareholders and highly-skilled, motivated employees.”

Specialist People Services comprises Driver Hire Nationwide, a UK specialist transport and logistics recruiter; rail support services supplier ISS Labour; Driver CPC training provider Driver Hire Training; its eServices division; and international arm Driver Hire Australia. The company has been backed by private equity investor LDC since 2014.
