UK – Recruitment executive receives second ban after found to be running company

27 June 2019

Recruitment firm executive Simon Anthony Charles Wooding, of Altrincham was banned from being involved in the management of a company for nine years without the permission of a court — the second ban for Wooding, the UK Insolvency Service reported this week. His wife, Julie Ann Wooding was banned for 3½ years.

Simon Wooding had been acting as director of Avante Recruitment Ltd., which recruited candidates for finance, accountancy and insolvency roles, before entering Creditors Voluntary Liquidation itself in September 2017, according to the Insolvency Service. The company allegedly did not make adequate tax payments and did not always file tax returns from mid-2016, the government reported.

However, Wooding had previously been disqualified in May 2016 for 3 ½ years over his conduct while director of a separate company, AMS Search and Selection Limited.

Wooding officially resigned as director of Avante in November 2016, but investigators established that he still acted as a director up to the date of the company’s liquidation in September 2017.
