UK – Number of job vacancies down slightly in Q1: Jobfeed

There were 0.9% fewer jobs posted online in the UK in the first quarter of 2019 when compared to the same period last year, according to an analysis by Jobfeed, Textkernel’s big data tool for vacancies.

The number of unique job vacancies posted online in the UK totalled 2.39 million in the first quarter of 2019, down from approximately 2.4 million last year.

The top job category for Q1 2019 was healthcare, with a share of 12.2% (up 0.3% over the year) of all online jobs posted. This was followed by Information, Communications and Technology at 10.3% (but down 0.4%). Administration and Customer Service followed at 9.51% market share (down 1.2%).

Customer Service Agent has taken top spot over Nursing as the most in-demand profession in Q1 2019, despite the reduction in Administration and Customer Service market share.

Meanwhile, the NHS ranked as the largest employer in the UK with more than 55,000 unique vacancies posted in Q1 2019.

Among the staffing firms with the most job ads posted on Jobfeed are Hays, Page Group and Reed Specialist Recruitment.
