UK – Nearly half of workers don’t feel comfortable asking for a pay rise

20 March 2019

Almost half, or 45% of UK workers do not feel comfortable asking their employer for a pay rise, according to survey data from CV-Library.

The survey of 1,200 UK professionals also showed that 31% claimed that they wouldn’t feel comfortable negotiating pay with a new employer either.

Furthermore, according to CV-Library, 61% of UK workers haven’t received a pay rise in the last 12-18 months. Of those who did, 38% received an increase of up to 2%.

Social care and hospitality were the top sectors where workers were found to be least likely to negotiate on salary.
