15 February 2018

Over half of workers, or 55%, in the UK are unhappy with their jobs, according to survey data from CV-Library.

The survey of over 1,200 workers sought to reveal how professionals felt about their current jobs. Despite more than half being unhappy in their roles, 57% agreed that quitting isn’t always the best solution.

When asked to identify why they dislike their positions, most respondents (38%) said it was ‘not being paid enough’, this was followed by ‘no room for progression (36%), and poor company culture (30%).

Meanwhile, 53% of professionals said that one should always take positive steps to try and make things better before giving up on the job. The majority of respondents (64%) said that speaking with a manager was the top way to address problems at work.

“It’s worrying to learn that so many professionals are unhappy in their current roles,”

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, said. “Job satisfaction plays an important part of keeping staff motivated and productive. As an employer, it’s vital that you are able to spot the signs of dissatisfaction or low morale and combat these issues right away. Tackling these early on can help to get staff back on track and start enjoying their work again.”
