03 May 2019

More than half, or 55%, of employees in the UK said they were hesitant to ask for a raise, according to survey data from Reed Recruitment.

Reed surveyed 3,000 employees and found that 55 per cent said there were barriers preventing them from asking for a raise. These included not knowing what to say (16%) not wanting to be seen as greedy (15%) scared of asking their boss (12%) and worried about being turned down (12%).

Meanwhile, 37% said nothing would stop them from asking for a pay rise.
