UK – More than 11,000 EU migrants plan to stage workplace action to secure protection following Brexit

28 June 2016

More than 11,000 EU migrants are planning to stage a ‘Workplace Action’ on 4 July in the hopes of securing guaranteed legal protection following the UK’s decision to leave the EU, according to CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development).

The event calls for swift and decisive action from the Government to protect the current two million EU migrants in the UK.

Kristof Deak, who set up the event through Facebook, said, “We feel vulnerable now and we want quick and decisive action from the government to protect us. We can’t spend the next months or years wondering if we have a future in the UK. We can’t rely on politicians’ empty promises on this matter. We need legislation to back this up.”

As of Monday, more than 11,000 people had signed up to attend the event in which migrants and supporters will wear t-shirts and badges to pledge allegiance.
