UK — Impellam 2015 revenue up 34%

04 March 2016

Impellam Group plc, one of the world’s largest staffing firms, reported revenue rose 34.3% in full-year 2015. At one division of the company, UK managed services, revenue jumped 57.4%.

However, the company also noted the UK healthcare market has “faced significant disruption since caps on doctors’ and nurses’ rate were introduced in November 2015”. And the impact of the minimum wage and living wage in the UK along with the imminent removal of travel and subsistence allowances has provided challenges to the company’s Blue Arrow division.

“Although we anticipate continued turbulent conditions in the UK healthcare market in the short-term, we are confident that our strategy will give us the opportunity in the medium- to-long term to increase market share”, CEO Julia Robertson wrote. “This confidence is born out of the manner in which our talented teams in the Medacs Global Group have adapted to market conditions in the last quarter of 2015 and the feedback we are receiving from our customers”.

Robertson continued, “similarly, we anticipate that the ongoing impact of the minimum/living wage issue, the removal of travel and subsistence benefits and the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy will all continue to require mindset changes in our UK blue-collar market in the short- to medium-term”.
