UK – Healthcare sector tops online vacancies in Q3

01 November 2018

The UK job market saw 2.36 million unique job vacancies posted online, with Healthcare accounting for 10.7% of all job postings available, according to the latest job market report from Jobfeed, Textkernel’s searchable job database.

Despite being the top job category in the UK, the Healthcare sector saw its market share decline by 0.4% compared to Q3 2017.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Administration and Customer Service followed as the second and third largest job categories respectively, both of which grew market share by 0.5% each, compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, Sales and Trading lost 0.8% market share, down to 8.2% of jobs posted. This is the third quarter in a row that the category has been the biggest market share loser among the top ten categories. The report said that this only indicates a reduction in online vacancies available.

Insurance and Finance rounded out the top five with 7% market share, up 0.6% over the same period last year.

Customer Service Agent was the top profession by number of jobs posted for the second quarter in a row, reflecting growth in the Administration and Customer Service category.

Other key highlights of the report showed that England accounted for 91.2% of the online jobs posted. Full-time positions accounted for 90.8% of all vacancies posted, a slight decline of 0.1% compared to last year. Scotland followed with a 5.2% market share, up 0.2% compared with last year. Northern Ireland saw its market share remain steady at 1.5% while Wales fell 0.1% to 2.5% market share.

Full-time positions accounted for 91.8% of all vacancies posted, down slightly from the same period last year. Part-time positions accounted for 8.2% of all positions, up 0.5% compared to last year.
