UK – Healthcare sector continues to top online vacancies

17 November 2017

In the third quarter of 2017, the UK job market saw 11.6 million job vacancies posted online, up by 36.4% compared to last year according to the latest job market report from Jobfeed, Textkernel’s searchable job database.

After eliminating duplicate data, the total number of job vacancies amounted to 2.35 million, which represents an increase of 0.6% compared to the third quarter of 2016.

The sector with the highest demand continued to be healthcare with 17.6% of total market share experiencing an increase of 1.2% year-on-year. The report states that this trend underpins the general post-Brexit slump in applications to NHS roles from continental Europe. Furthermore, demand for nurses increased 3% compared to Q3 2016.

The most in-demand profession was sales manager, despite experiencing a decrease of 1.5% market share.  Meanwhile, despite a loss of -0.4% for market share, more than 90% of all job postings in the UK come from England. This was followed by Scotland (5.0%), Wales (2.6%) and Northern Ireland (1.5%).
