UK — Hays uses SMS messaging to notify temporary workers of payment

22 July 2009

The specialist recruitment firm Hays has introduced an SMS pay notification service for all temporary staff directly paid through Hays. Workers will be notified when the payment is released. All notifications are free of charge and workers can either opt in or out of the service.

The SMS pay notification service is expected to reduce administrative costs to Hays in the form of enquiry calls from temporary workers and is regarded as a service to temporary staff who no longer need to pay for such phone calls. The service has been rolled out across the UK.

Matt Hobden, Project Manager of the SMS initiative at Hays, says: “Rather than a temp having to call us to check that their payment is going through, they will now be notified by text message, making it more cost effective for them and more time efficient for us. In cutting down the numbers of calls coming through to the service centre, call handlers will be freed up to deal with other queries.â€VbCrLf
