The Netherlands — The city of Amsterdam chooses to work with four temporary employment agencies

15 July 2009

Following an official public tender the city of Amsterdam has chosen Manpower, Olympia, USG (in combination with subsidiaries Creyf’s Interim and Start People) and Randstad (in combination with subsidiary Tempo Team) as suppliers for temporary staff, Flexmarkt reports today.

The initial contract duration will be two years with an option of extending for a further two years. The total estimated purchasing value amounts to €100 million. This estimate is based on experience from the last four years where the total number of hours worked by temporary employees amounted to 4.5 million.

Temporary staff will be employed as administrative staff, technical staff and chauffeurs.

According to Manpower “the city of Amsterdam has during the public tender paid extra attention to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Amsterdam attaches great importance to the use of suppliers who apply CSR on a daily basis. One such example is to choose temporary staff who live close to their workplace in order to minimise commuting, which is good for them and good for the environmentâ€VbCrLf.
