The Netherlands — Staffing agency receives independent relocation approval certificate

25 August 2009

Timing, the specialist temporary staffing agency, has just been awarded the so-called 'Certified Flex Home' approval from the independent inspection agency VRO Services. The approval refers to the agency's endeavour to find adequate housing for foreign workers who come to The Netherlands on temporary contracts.

The Dutch Association of Temporary Work Agencies (ABU), has commissioned VRO to perform housing inspections among foreign temporary staff employed by Dutch agencies in order to raise the standards of their accommodation and to avoid rogue agency practices on relocation.

Jenny Egberink, EU Services Co-ordinator at Timing, says "if you invite people to come and work in The Netherlands you must also ensure that they receive a warm welcome. We have a dedicated department at Timing which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in order to support both landlords and temporary staff on accommodation issues. The dedicated staff speak both Dutch and Polish."

"By maintaining frequent contact we avoid all sorts of problems. The fact that we have just received VRO approval is obviously a compliment and we are very pleased about it."

There are currently 150,000 just Polish migrants working in The Netherlands. 50% of these work in temporary employment and their situations should therefore comply with the ABU/VRO general guidelines on adequate housing arrangements.
