Temporary workers’ hours in the Netherlands decline by 12% in latest ABU report

The total amount of hours worked by temporary workers in the Netherlands decreased by 12% year over year in the eighth period of 2023 (17 July through 13 August, weeks 29 to 32), according to the Dutch Federation of Private Employment Agencies (ABU). Revenue saw no change when compared to the same period a year ago.

By sector, ABU found that, in the administrative sector, the number of hours fell by 18% and turnover fell by 3% compared to the same period last year.

Within the industrial sector, the number of hours decreased by 10% and turnover increased by 1% compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, in the technical sector, the number of hours decreased by 7% and turnover increased by 4% compared to the same period last year.
