The registered unemployment rate in Switzerland for September was at a seasonally adjusted 3.3% in September, up from 3.2% the previous year and unchanged from the previous month, according to data from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

The number of unemployed people declined to 142,675 September from 142,858 in the preceding month. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 138,226.

The youth unemployment rate (15-24 years old) dropped to 3.6% in September from 3.7% in August.

In September 2016 there were a total of 203,568 jobseekers registered. Compared to the same period last year this figure rose by 7,526 persons.
