The registered unemployment rate in Switzerland increased to a seasonally adjusted 3.5% in April, up from 3.4% in March, according to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
On a seasonally unadjusted basis, the unemployment rate fell to 3.5% from 3.6% in March 2016. Compared to the previous month, unemployment increased by 8,409 persons.
At the end of April 2016, there were 149,540 unemployed enrolled at regional employment centers (RAV), which is 5,784 less than in the previous month.
The youth (15-24 years old) unemployment rate decreased to 3.2% from 3.4% in March.
There were a total of 210,926 job seekers registered, 7,261 less than in the previous month. Compared to the same period last year this figure rose thus to 11,580 persons.
