Switzerland – Unemployment rate falls to 3.3% in April

Switzerland’s jobless rate fell to 3.3% in April from 3.5% in the same period last year, according to statistics from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

The data also shows that 146,327 people were registered as unemployed in April compared to 149,540 last year.

The number of unemployed youth stood at 16,216, which was 1,655 less (-9.3%) than last year.

Meanwhile, in April a total of 208,357 job seekers were registered, a decrease of 1.2%.

SECO’s data also shows that in February 2017,there were 5,593 people in short-term work, compared to 6,026 people in the same period last year, a total decrease of 7.1%.
