Switzerland – Temporary staffing market declines in May

22 June 2016

The number of temporary workers in Switzerland fell by 8.9% in May year-on-year, according to the latest figures from Swiss Staffing, the Swiss Federation of Staffing Companies.

Since the beginning of the year, the growth of the temporary worker industry was 0.6%. Over the last 12 months, the sector grew by 1.7%.

“The impact of the strong franc, the implementation of the initiative on mass immigration and the reform of corporate taxation aII continue to worry the Swiss economy,” Marius Osterfield, Economist at Swiss Staffing, said. “Moreover, the global economy is in a state of stagnation. We will see Thursday, June 23, how the year will continue its development. It is indeed at this time that the British will vote on their possible EU exit. It is already foreseeable that Brexit will lead to further uncertainty and economic turbulence.”
