Switzerland – Temp workers’ hours up 12.1% in April

30 May 2018

The number of hours worked by temporary workers in Switzerland grew by 12.1% in April, when compared to last year, according to figures from Swiss Staffing, the Swiss Federation for Staffing Companies.

In the first four months of the year, the number of temp workers’ hours increased by 13.7% compared to the same period last year.

“The growth of the temporary industry is stabilising at a high level,” Marius Osterfeld, Economist, Swissstaffing, said. He added that growth will remain in the double-digit range, but will lose momentum slightly.

“Robust economic growth in Switzerland is gaining momentum,” Osterfeld said. “All large economic research institutes expect a GDP increase of more than 2%. If Switzerland grows stronger, unemployment will fall.”

Osterfeld cited figures from the KOF Economic Research Center.
