Switzerland – Strong increase in job ads for March

The number of jobs advertised throughout Switzerland rose by 20.9% in March 2019, when compared to March 2018, according to the Michael Page Swiss Job Index. Monthly growth across Switzerland stood at 1.5%.

Monthly growth was led by the German-speaking region (2.2%) which accounted for 9 out of 10 jobs. At the same time, advertised jobs in Swiss Romande (French-speaking region) declined by 2.6% in the same period.

The index showed that industrial planning and purchasing roles showed the highest monthly growth followed by credit specialists, IT support, export specialists and scientists.

“We expect continued growth in planning and purchasing roles in line with the expansion of online retailing and export focused roles”, Nicolai Mikkelsen, Executive Director, Michael Page, said.

The Central and East regions showed the highest regional growth +3.9% and +3.8% monthly growth respectively. All regions recorded double-digit year-on-year growth.
