Switzerland – Michael Page Swiss Job Index shows record growth in advertised jobs in September

The Michael Page Swiss Job Index recorded an increase in advertised jobs of 9.5% between August and September 2017.

This figure tops the previous record of 8.5% recorded in September 2016 and is almost double the Index’s average August – September growth in advertised jobs of 5.1%.

The Romandy region showed an increase of 13.1% in advertised jobs between August and September, one of the highest growth rates recorded since 2012.  The German-speaking region, which accounted for 9 out of 10 of all advertised jobs, grew by 9.1% over the same period. The year-on-year growth in job vacancies was strongest in the Mid and North regions at 16.9% and showed 10.4% growth for the August – September period.

The Michael Page Swiss Index indicated that demand for facility managers, administrative, accounting, pharmaceutical and logistics specialists was especially strong.

“We are seeing continued growth for specialists in key industries with an international focus e.g. pharma and logistics,” Nicolai Mikkelsen, Director, Michael Page, said. “As we move into the budget season, we are also seeing especially strong demand for administration and accounting specialists. The scheduled conclusion of real estate developments ahead of winter, is also driving demand for professionals in this field e.g. facility managers.”

The Michael Page Swiss Job Index lists the number of jobs advertised on the websites of companies based in Switzerland.  The index covers the main market trends in recruitment in enterprises, regional characteristics, segmentation specific sectors and professions.
