Switzerland – Michael Page Swiss Job Index rises 18.9% in April

The number of jobs advertised throughout Switzerland rose by 18.9% in April 2019, when compared to April 2018, according to the Michael Page Swiss Job Index. Monthly growth across Switzerland remained steady at 0.1%.

Canton Geneva led the growth in advertised jobs between March and April 2019 (11.9%). The Swiss Romande experienced an increase of 8.1% growth in advertised jobs for the same period. Both increases are the highest increases for the region, over this period, since the Index began in 2012.

Demand was especially strong for Logistics and Inventory Planners on a month to month basis (13.9%), as well as for banking specialists (12.2%) and analysts (9.7%). Export and IT Security specialists, also experienced strong demand with 7.5% and 7.0% respective monthly growth.

“We continue to see strong demand for qualified candidates across all key sectors, with top candidates receiving multiple offers”, Julien Gibert, Executive Director, PageGroup, said. “The Lake Geneva region showed the highest monthly regional growth (9.0%). All regions, with the exception of Canton Zurich, recorded double-digit year-on-year growth.”
