Switzerland – Majority of employees are satisfied with work-life balance

18 October 2018

A study from the PageGroup found that 75% of employees in Switzerland are satisfied with their work-life balance.

PageGroup’s study also found that 44% of employees expect their work-life balance to improve in the next 12 months.

According to PageGroup, with a growing overlap of professional and private activities, controlling one's time is a key factor in satisfying one's work-life balance. The control is defined by flexible working conditions, with the possibility of working regularly remotely, thanks to technologies such as computers and mobile phones.

Meanwhile, employee confidence in finding a job in three months fell to the lowest level in two years, at 44% (in Q3 2018) versus 53% (in Q3 2016). At the same time, 55% of employees in Switzerland are not expecting an increase in salary in the next 12 months.

The study also found an increasingly blurred line between personal and work activities. More than two-thirds of employees have worked outside official working hours. On the other hand, 95% reported having personal interactions during their work hours, with the majority, or 78%, spending 30 minutes or less.
