Switzerland – Jobless rate falls in March

The Swiss unemployment rate in March fell to 3.5% from the previous month’s rate of 3.7%, according to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

There were a total of 155,324 unemployed who were registered in regional employment centres, which was 6,093 less than in the previous month.

Youth unemployment (15 to 24 years old) increased by 706 or 3.9% compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, youth unemployment decreased by 1,584 persons or -7.7% to a total of 18,907 compared to the same period last year. 

There were a total of 218,187 job seekers were registered, 4,701 less than in the previous month. Compared to the same period last year this figure rose thus to 13,921 or 6.8%.
