Sweden – Unemployment rate continues to fall in May

The unemployment rate in Sweden fell in May declining to 7.3% from 7.5% during the same period last year, according to data from the Swedish Public Employment Service Arbetsförmedlingen.

The data shows that 348,000 people were registered as unemployed at the end of May. It is 7,000 fewer than a year ago.

Among people aged 18-24, unemployment is continuing to decrease. In one year the number of registered unemployed youths decreased by 9,000, to 56,000. The unemployment rate for young people is now 10.8%, down 1.4% since last year.

Unemployment among immigrants rose in May to 21.2% compared with 20.9% in the same time last year.
