Spain – Most jobseekers consider temporary contracts as main option of employment (Europa Press)

07 November 2018

The majority of Spanish jobseekers, or 72.1%, consider temporary contracts as one of their main options for employment, the Europa Press reports, citing data from PageGroup. When broken down, the data found that jobseekers under 30 (82.1%) were most likely to opt for this type of employment while those between 31 and 49 were the most reluctant (68.4%). The main reason cited for opting for temporary contracts was ‘enriching skills and acquiring more experience’. Meanwhile, more women than men would choose a temporary contract. Jobseekers who have been unemployed for more than three months were also more inclined to accept a temporary contract due to the difficulty in finding permanent work.
