Spain – Employment in SMEs up in Q1, Randstad finds

SMEs (small to medium enterprises) in Spain saw employment grow by 3.2% in Spain during the first quarter of 2019, when compared to the same period last year, according to Randstad Spain.

During the first quarter of 2019, SMEs generated a total of 58,644 jobs.

Broken down by company size, Randstad found that companies with 10 to 49 workers have grown the most, with 29,502 new jobs in Q1 2019 which is approximately 50% of all SMEs jobs.

Meanwhile, micro-enterprises (with 1 to 9 employees) had 26,761 jobs. This was followed by medium-sized companies (between 50 and 249 employees), with 2,381 jobs, an increase of 0.1% compared to the previous year.

Randstad also forecasted that SMEs will generate 543,000 jobs between 2019 and 2020 in Spain.
