Skills shortages across Ireland set to continue into 2024 (RTE)

15 December 2023

Despite a softening in the labour market in recent months the competition for talent is set to continue into 2024, reports RTE, citing data from IrishJobs. The data showed high levels of demand over the past 12 months for professionals in sectors including construction, engineering and healthcare. It is predicting that businesses will continue to face challenges in a tight labour market with skills shortages prevailing across a number of sectors.

IrishJobs said that new developments in AI and automation will have a significant impact on the recruitment landscape over the coming year. "Like all sectors technology is playing a huge role in how we recruit talent," said Sam Dooley, Country Director of The Stepstone Group for Ireland, with responsibility for its subsidiary IrishJobs.
