Portugal — Professional training falls victim of the economic crisis

28 August 2009

A research report among 800 employees carried out by the Portuguese subsidiary of Adecco S.A., reveals that 38.4% of interviewees believe that professional training is the area which has most suffered from the current economic crisis. 61.5% of respondents, on the other hand, said that companies would not reduce social benefits.

60% expect further redundancies to happen in the companies they work for but 40% would not accept a reduction in salary in order to avoid redundancies. 37.8% would accept a reduction in salary if they could keep their jobs that way.

85% of interviewees say that the economic crisis does not affect their professional performance on a day-to-day basis and maintain a positive attitude towards the company they are currently working for.
