Portugal – Jobless rate for Q2 falls to lowest in more than 5 years

The unemployment rate in Portugal fell to 10.8% in the three months ended in June, compared to 11.9% in the same time last year, reaching its lowest level since the first quarter of 2011 according to Statistics Portugal.

The number of unemployed people declined to 559,300 in the June quarter from 620,400 in the same time last year.

The employed population was estimated at 4,602,500 people, having recorded a year-on-year increase of 0.5%.

The labour participation rate of the working age population stood at 58.3%, down 0.3% from the same quarter of 2015.
