Poland – Temporary workers increasingly difficult to find, according to Polskie HR Forum

20 June 2018

According to a report from Polskie HR Forum, the Polish Human Resources Forum, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find temporary employees in Poland.

Polskie HR Forum’s latest report on the first quarter of 2018 showed that the number of temporary employees hired by member companies of Polskie HR Forum fell by 11% when compared to the same period last year.

Polskie HR Forum’s data analysed the results of its member companies, which represent around half of the value of the temporary work market and one-third of the permanent recruitment market.

“Bearing in mind the situation on the labour market, this information is not a surprise,” Agnieszka Zielińska, Head of the Polish HR Forum, said. “Employers, including employment agencies, have problems finding suitable candidates for work, and the inflow of workers from Ukraine, unfortunately, is not enough to reduce these deficits. In addition, employers more often offer permanent employment.”

Meanwhile, the number of hours worked by temporary employees decreased by 12% when compared to the same period last year.

Despite the drop in the number of hours and the number of temporary employees, turnover in the field of temporary work in Q1 2018 increased by 6% compared to the same period last year, among member companies reaching the level of over PLN 892 million (€206.7 million). This is mainly due to the increase in average wages in Q1 2018.

The data from Polskie HR Forum also found that approximately 91% of all contracts completed with temporary employees by agencies are employment contracts.
